Morteza Anvari:
Currently, I am the project manager for a British
Telecom research project in Intelligent Information Systems. This effort has
led for the first time to the design and implementation of relevance and
context in knowledge processing. Also I am the project manager of a research
project funded by ONR in multi-modal knowledge representation.
Recently, I was a member of the University
Initiative on Automatic Object Recognition. I was also developing a methodology
for incorporation of fuzzy logic in image processing. This was a collaborative
effort between the University
of California and Telecom
Paris (Ecole Normale Superieure des
Telecommunications.)
Recently, I implemented, in PROLOG, the concept of
probabilistic entailment in knowledge bases, and developed with one of my
graduate students a prototype for relational representation of rules in expert
systems.
Co‑investigator of an energy project evaluating
windy locations in California
for the purpose of energy exploration. This project resulted in complete
analysis of data and recommendations to the California Energy Commission.
1981 - 1983.
Co‑investigator of a project to plan, design, and
implement a large database system for the Ministry of Education of Iran. The
project took 3 years to complete and implement under IBM's IMS. 1970 -
1973.
Co‑investigator with a geologist of a
computer/mathematical modeling project subcontracted from Gulf South Research
Institute for the state of Louisiana, to
investigate the environmental impact of diverting a portion of the Mississippi
River through the state of Texas.
Our task was to develop a model that would simulate the diversion and make
predictions. The coding of the model was done under my supervision, and
the results were published in a professional journal in the field of
geology. 1965 - 1966.
